for Dennis and Vera and Scottydi. I really hope that the weather has improved and that you all have a great time. They do say that the sun always shines on the righteous, so we will learn a bit about you folks depending on how the weather works out . I have it on good authority that Troulos is on standby! Looking forward to your reports when you get back. Bob

Well, we have both said we'll be penning something whilst we are there. According to the jungle drums, Scottydi has already departed for the overnight hotel at the airport, whereas Vera and I depart at 3am to drive to Birmingham.
So for us, it's really only half a sleep left.

Yes, quite right too. This time tomorrow I'll be in Salt and Pepper. And you won't.

And here I am, 2 in the morning, can't sleep with the alarm set for 2:30. So one sleep wasn't even half a sleep.
In 12 hours time, even Scottydi will have arrived. Time to change my profile, no longer on countdown.

We'll here we are. No first impressions - this is our second visit, we are old hands.
so, landed at 12:25 local time, inside Villa Maria by 13:45, where we were greeted with great friendship and a toasted sandwich and bottle of wine! We would have got here quicker, but coach rep managed to carry one party beyond where they are staying!
its sunny. It's warm. It's everything we wanted it to be. We can feel the stress just melting away. We've been here only once before, a year ago and the lady in the supermarket remembers us, Niko at Villa Maria remembered how Vera likes her frappé, Angela at Villa Maria asked if I've got my Mosquitos t-shirt again and daughter Stamatia will be pretend cooking for me again.
i know this is part of the skill of running a holiday destination, but it still impresses me that they all do it with completely transparent sincerity.

Glad to hear that everything is great and you are now officially a Boomeranger Dennis. My reference to first impression was aimed at Scottydi, although by your reception, it appears that you and Vera must have created quite an impression last time! Isn't it amazing how they genuinely remember things from last year! I hope that the sun continues to shine on you. Bob

I don't even know if Scottydi got here. I went outside to wave optimistically at passing buses, but never saw anything. In theory I was out there from 3:15 to 4:45, but in all honesty, not having slept more than an hour last night, I kept nodding off, so she may have sailed on by when I was out to the world.
Anyway, we forced ourselves to go to Salt and Pepper, where Vera had her kalamari and I had sea bass. Beautiful, but I was too tired to do it justice. €35.50 with a shared yoghurt and fruit to finish. I had two pineapple juices and Vera settled for the complimentary litre of iced water. I didn't see Goldie Hawn, so I told the head man to tell her I was too tired to wait.
Not the brightest of sunshine today, but very pleasant nevertheless. We are due to walk to Troulos beach at 8am tomorrow for a gentle swim and we shall see if those early figs next door to Astoria Hotel are ripe.

Sorry to hear about your stress level, but delighted that you seem to have settled in well. I'm a fan of Varelli's as well. They are a lovely family and provide a great welcome as well as the lovely food. Now just enjoy yourselves and don't feel any pressure to keep us up to date. Time for that when you get back! Bob
